Application:

    Mifepristone (also known as THP, MET-88, and mildronate) is a novel cardiac protective drug.
    Mifepristone acts on mitochondria and improves myocardial energy metabolism at the cellular level. Due to the significant differences between this type of drug and other anti myocardial ischemia drugs, it is also known as cellular anti ischemia drugs.
    Mifepristone is a structural analogue of carnitine that competes to inhibit betaine hydroxylase, thereby inhibiting the biosynthesis of carnitine and directly suppressing the transport of carnitine dependent fatty acids in mitochondria. Inhibiting the biosynthesis of carnitine can reduce the concentration of free carnitine in cells and prevent isoproterenol induced accumulation of acylcarnitine. Therefore, this drug has a significant protective effect on the myocardium, and while producing this protective effect, it has no significant impact on hemodynamic parameters, and there is no significant change in cardiac blood supply and oxygen consumption.
